Rubia Natural Dyes

In 2010, Wools of New Zealand teamed up with Rubia® to produce the world’s first commercial carpet using pure wool dyed with natural colour extracts.

It was installed in the headquarters of Dutch farmer cooperative ZLTO, which was designed to be as eco-efficient and sustainable as possible. Wools of New Zealand’s Laneve wool was selected for its genuine eco-credentials of sustainable and ethical production practices.

The Rubia natural dyes were applied using standard industrial dyeing machinery, and provided a colour range and depth suitable for the sophisticated patterns involved.
